NDIS Worker Screening Check

New pre-placement requirement

As of February 2021, anyone who works for a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider in risk assessed roles must have clearance to do so via the NDIS Worker Screening Check. This includes healthcare students going on placement with these providers.

The NDIS Worker Screening Check does not apply to all students. The Placement team within your School or Department will let you know whether your placement provider is registered with NDIS and requires you to get this additional check. You can also ask your placement provider directly.

Applying for an NDIS Worker Screening Check

If you were advised to get an NDIS Worker Screening Check, you can start the process here. You will need to include the following details on your application:

  • Organisation: The University of Melbourne
  • Employer ID: 4-G1ICW7R

The NDIS Worker Screening Check is valid for 5 years unless surrendered or revoked. Students are responsible for the cost of this check.

Submitting evidence of your NDIS Check

Once your screening is complete, you will receive an email from Worker Screening Check Victoria advising the outcome of your check.

To clear your NDIS Worker Screening Check on Sonia, please submit a screenshot of this email (see example here) or enter your NDIS Worker Screening Check ID Number in the reference field available.

If you have completed your NDIS Check with another organisation, we’ll link your check to the University after receiving at least your NDIS Worker Screening Check ID Number via Sonia.

Please note that you may have to submit a manual application if you are experiencing technical issues or if you do not have the relevant ID documents. Manual applications can take some time to organise and process. You should allow for the additional time it may take to complete this check.
