Professional Psychology
Thank you for choosing a student from the Professional Psychology program. Placements are a major component of the professional training in psychology at the University of Melbourne and complements coursework and didactic units.
The two-year program includes coursework subjects addressing psychological assessment, interventions and related professional skills; with a research project and practical placement experience in the second year. Upon completion, graduates will be eligible to undertake their one year of supervised internship – enabling them to progress to full registration as a psychologist.
Beyond specific skill training, placements constitute the primary opportunity for development of a professional identity. On placement, trainees are supported to build up their psychological skills and competencies, and to develop their paths of future employment.
