Clinical Education Strategy and Risk Committee

The MDHS Clinical Education Strategy and Risk Committee (CESAR) is responsible for the strategic development and risk management of clinical education and placement activities. The committee is also responsible for anticipating, monitoring, and responding to strategic and operational risks in clinical education.

The CESAR committee's responsibilities include:

• Supporting the development of sector-leading clinical education programs for MDHS students and monitoring the sustainability, quality, and safety of clinical education;
• Establishing and maintaining a register of risks;
• Providing advice to the Faculty Executive;
• Enacting plans to mitigate risks, and;
• Making recommendations for innovation and development.

The MDHS Student Placement Advisory Group (SPAG) is responsible for discussing  current challenges and best practices in student clinical and non-clinical placements across the Faculty. The SPAG committee is empowered to take collective action to enhance student placement programs in the Faculty and may refer matters to the MDHS Academic Programs Committee and/or MDHS Clinical Education Strategy and Risk Committee as needed.

It is a collaborative space with working groups to address opportunities for development, improvement in processes and strategies as well as providing a supportive space to share ideas and learn from each other’s practices.
