Extended deadline SWiM Program

SWIM Mentoring for Promotion Program deadline extended to 31 January 2022.

Our faculty’s SWIM Mentoring for Promotion Program will be running again this year and we are offering the program to Level B, C and D women and non-binary academics from teaching and research, who are eligible for promotion in 2022.

The SWiM Program runs from February to May to align with the university-wide promotions timetable, and is specifically focused on mentoring for promotion. The program will be delivered online in 2022.

How does it work?
Any Level B, C or D women in MDHS eligible for promotion this year is encouraged tor register as a mentee.

We also seek mentors at Level C, D and E to join the program in 2022. Mentors are matched with mentees outside of their school/or department and their discipline.

Mentors can be any gender and the workload requirement for SWiM mentors in is not exhaustive. Essentially, we ask mentors to:

  • meet with their mentee 2-3 times between February to May
  • review their application and provide specific feedback on drafts.

The duration and regularity of meetings between mentor and mentee is decided early on. In addition to the one-on-one meetings, mentees participate in practical workshops that focus on drafting their promotion application. They also have access to a peer network, online resources, and an opportunity to speak to the panel chairs about the promotions process.
