About
The Picchi Brothers Foundation Scholarship was established with a gift from the Picchi Brothers Foundation and is offered to talented Australian students who are enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy – Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences in the field of asthma research.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a fortnightly stipend with a rate of $50,000 per year (full-time student rate) for 3.5 years.

Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, students must:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Have applied for and met the entry requirements for Doctor of Philosophy – Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences in the field of asthma research
- Have a registered principal supervisor in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences
- Have not completed a Doctor of Philosophy or held a graduate research scholarship previously
- Commence their PhD in the calendar year of the offer
Selection
The scholarship is offered to eligible students who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on their research potential in the field of asthma research and their average result for prior study.
Application
Students who have applied for admission by the advertised Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Scienecs Round 2 application date will be automatically considered for this scholarship.
More information
The scholarship is subject to the MDHS Graduate Research Trust Scholarships terms & conditions. In addition, students must:
- continue to undertake research in Asthma research
- make satisfactory academic progress at each progress review milestone
- acknowledge receipt of the award in all PhD related publications and presentations
- provide an initial statement outlining their research and intended impact of the scholarship
- provide annual written updates to the scholarship committee
- be available to meet with the scholarship donor at the conclusion of the research
The award may be revoked if the candidate fails to meet any of the above conditions.
