Meet Tiffany
Tiffany started her Bachelor of Biomedicine (Major: To be confirmed - Human Structure and Function / Physiology) in July 2023 at the University of Melbourne. Prior to this, she completed Trinity College Foundation Studies earlier in the same year. She was born and raised in Surakarta, Indonesia.

I first heard about the University of Melbourne through alumni from my high school and friends’ parents. I had the opportunity to tour the campus with my family while my older brother was exploring university options. While my brother chose to pursue his studies elsewhere, I became certain that I wanted to pursue mine at UniMelb.
Biology was always my favourite subject in high school, and it became a dream of mine to study medical sciences. Hence, I chose to study the Bachelor of Biomedicine at Australia’s number one university.

My favourite aspect of my studies at the University of Melbourne is the community. In the Bachelor of Biomedicine, my friends and teachers create a supportive environment where it’s easy to ask questions, clarify doubts, and fill knowledge gaps. At the same time, they foster a space where I feel motivated, encouraged, and capable of succeeding. I have also enjoyed making new friends thorough student societies and volunteering opportunities. For example, I have been a Kakak Sobat in PPIA (mentor in the University of Melbourne’s Indonesian Students Association), a PALS Leader in MUPA (Peer Assisted Learning Seminars Leader in the Melbourne University Psychology Association), as well as a volunteer at the Teddy Bear Hospital.
I’ve developed many valuable skills throughout this degree, most notably, self-discipline. I’ve also strengthened my communication and organisations skills, as well as my ability to navigate challenges effectively.
Lastly, the University of Melbourne’s proximity to the CBD makes it convenient to immerse myself in life at Melbourne. The University and the city of Melbourne offer so much to explore, eat and enjoy.

I aspire to work in healthcare in the future. Seminars and workshops providing information on different career pathways makes this dream more accessible.

I would advise future students to stay true to themselves. Do not let yourself be steered away from your goals.
At a top university, you’re constantly surrounded by intelligent, high-achieving individuals, and it’s easy to feel intimidated or doubt your own abilities. However, everyone is different. It’s important to focus on your own journey. Even if you don’t come from a science background, don’t let that discourage you. With effort and discipline, you can do anything.
