Melbourne Bioinformatics
Melbourne Bioinformatics enables cutting edge research through the power of data. We train the specialists and build the infrastructure needed to understand some of society’s biggest challenges, from cancer to climate change.
Training & Support
Melbourne Bioinformatics provides comprehensive bioinformatics support to University of Melbourne staff, students, and affiliates through a range of training and consultation services.
We give free workshops covering diverse topics, complemented by an extensive library of free online tutorials designed for self-paced learning. For Galaxy Australia, we offer both introductory and advanced training, as well as support in setting up workflows and data analysis.
Our team provides free one-hour consultations to assist with research design, grant writing, data analysis, and pipeline development. We also offer subscription collaborations, embedding a bioinformatician within research teams for in-depth, long-term support.

Teaching
Our experts are actively involved in training the next generation of bioinformaticians. We coordinate the University of Melbourne Master of Science (Bioinformatics) program, and supervise MSc students researching in many different areas. We also supervise PhD students working in departments and institutes across the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct.
Our students come from industry and academia, as well as direct from undergraduate or postgraduate study. Whether you want to code the next great bioinformatics tool or apply bioinformatics in a laboratory context, we will teach you the skills you need to succeed.
