Walter builds on his clinical background as a paediatric emergency doctor and studies the contribution of workplace talk and team interactions to collaborative learning and team performance.

As Professor of Work Integrated Learning Research, Walter builds on a clinical background in paediatric emergency medicine and a PhD in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University to study the intersections between simulation and workplace learning. He focuses on interprofessional collaborative practice, team reflection, healthcare debriefing, and team adaptation. Walter collaborates with team and organizational psychologists to study team processes both in and outside of healthcare. His research seeks to delineate the contribution of workplace talk and team interactions to collaborative learning and team performance.
