Australia’s hospitals are stretched. With staff shortages, frontline healthcare workers are spending too much time on paperwork—time stolen directly from patient care. Now, the solution might be found in data and co-design. The University of Melbourne’s WECARE project is piloting computer simulation to create a digital blueprint of hospital ward operations. This isn't about replacing people; it's about using smart modelling to pinpoint and eliminate administrative burden, boosting staff satisfaction, and delivering higher-quality patient care.
