We invite you to join us for the Chiron Reunion, a celebration for Melbourne Medical School alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago.

Join us for arrival drinks and canapés, followed by a two-course seated lunch with select wines and beverages, hosted by Professor Nicola Lautenschlager, Head, Melbourne Medical School.

Cohorts will be seated together to ensure that you can catch up with former classmates and old friends.

After the luncheon you will have the opportunity to visit Science Gallery Melbourne and view the Dark Matters Exhibition.

Professor Nicola Lautenschlager, Head, Melbourne Medical School

Nicola joined the University of Melbourne in July 2008 as Professor and Chair of Old Age Psychiatry and Director of the Academic Unit for Psychiatry of Old Age in the Melbourne Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry. More recently she held the additional dual portfolios of Deputy Head and Research Director of the Melbourne Medical School. In October 2022 she was appointed interim Head of the Melbourne Medical School. Nicola is also a consultant old age psychiatrist at the Older Adult Mental Health Program, Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Service, Melbourne.


Originally from Germany, Nicola undertook her medical training and doctoral research at the Technical University of Munich and her postdoctoral studies at Boston University. A clinician-scientist by training, she holds particular research interests in dementia and aged mental health with experience across clinical trials and cohort studies as well as translational and implementation research.

Deputy Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences

Professor Mike McGuckin, Deputy Dean, MDHS

Professor Mike McGuckin is the Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Mike is the author of over 170 scientific publications with his research currently focused on mucosal infection, chronic inflammation and cancer in the gastrointestinal tract, and diabetes, and has held 4 patents. He is heavily involved in national and international peer review and has served on multiple committees and boards for scientific societies, collaborative research centres and charities.
