Support for trans and gender diverse staff and students
The Safer Community Program offers specialist support to the University’s transgender and gender diverse (TGD) community .
The University of Melbourne is committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of trans and gender diverse (TGD) students and staff. Gender affirmation can be a challenging time for people, especially whilst navigating a large organisation.
The University is seeking to improve the experiences of our TGD community members in a range of ways, including by updating its systems and processes and introducing additional supports.
Information and guidance around gender affirmation at the University, facilitating connections with appropriate services and agencies, peer connection and support and providing TGD resources for students and staff can be found on-line as your first port of call:
The Safer Community Program operates as the University’s central point of inquiry and reporting of inappropriate, concerning and threatening behaviour, and offers a respectful and confidential place to seek support and advice.
The University of Melbourne is committed to enabling a safe, inclusive and respectful community.
