Cancer researchers often require to review a large number of tumour pathological features and correlate them with their research findings. Most cancer researchers however are not trained surgical pathologists and a lot of the terms pathologists use seem mysterious or abstract in nature. The aim of this seminar is to help cancer researchers gain an understanding of the process of pathological cancer diagnosis, learn the pathological features and appreciate their clinical significance for the patients and the clinical team.

The presenter will take you on a visual journey of all the macroscopic and microscopic features pathologists examine to generate their report. This seminar is a must for all cancer researchers, especially those who study colorectal cancers.

Associate Professor Kais Kasem is a surgical pathologist and the lead of pathology discipline teaching for the Doctor of Medicine program at University of Melbourne. He holds a PhD degree in molecular pathology of cancer and has discovered the role of a new tumour suppressor gene in colorectal cancer.
