Improving breast cancer outcomes through translating research into policy and practice.

The Breast Cancer Research group is dedicated to the translation of cancer research into policy and practice to improve patient outcomes. The group’s focus spans clinical trials in breast cancer, new technology development in cancer, breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and supportive care research, and cancer outcomes research with a focus on value-based health care.

In her role as the James Stewart Chair of Surgery, Professor Saunders brings her extensive expertise in education, research and clinical practice to the Department of Surgery and across surgical specialties at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter Mac. Her extensive contributions to breast cancer research include psychosocial, translational, health services research and clinical trials of new treatments, with a particular focus on evaluating the efficacy and utility of therapy for early breast cancer.
