The Excellence in Clinical Reasoning Award is offered to students with the best clinical case presentation.

This prize offers a one-off payment of $500.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this prize students must:

  • be enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine and have completed 300 credit points
  • be undertaking clinical training at the Northern Clinical School

Selection

The prize will be offered to eligible students who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on their written patient case discussion and their understanding of the aetiology and pathophysiology of patient's medical condition and the proposed immediate, short- and longer-term plans.

Application

Students must submit a written patient case discussion (maximum 1500 words) that demonstrates their clinical thinking. Shortlisted candidates will be required to present a long case to a selection panel.

Outcome

Students must be available in October to present the long case component in person at the Northern Clinical School.
