About

The Biomedicine Access Scholarship is offered to domestic students who are commencing the Bachelor of Biomedicine and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances. Preference is given to Indigenous students, students from regional or remote areas, and students from disadvantaged financial backgrounds.

The Scholarship is funded by the School of Biomedical Sciences.

Benefits

The scholarship provides a one-off payment of $5,000 in April (Start year intake) or September (Mid year intake).

Multiple scholarships are available each year.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident
  • Have applied for the Bachelor of Biomedicine via the VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS)
  • Meet requirements for the Bachelor of Biomedicine under Access Melbourne (received a course offer)

Selection

Panel-based selection. The scholarship is offered to eligible students who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on their disadvantaged circumstances and ATAR. All Indigenous students, students from regional or remote areas, and students from disadvantaged financial backgrounds are given preference. When determining the successful candidate for this award, other awards received by candidates are considered.

Application

Students must submit the application form, which includes a personal statement addressing why they have applied for the Bachelor of Biomedicine and the impact receiving the bursary would have on their ability to commence.

2024 Mid Year Application Deadline: Sunday 14 July 2024

Students will be notified in February (Start year intake) or July (mid year intake) via email.

This scholarship cannot be deferred to the following year.

In addition, students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Biomedicine to receive payment. Payment will be made after census date to confirm enrolment.
