"The Bachelor of Biomedicine serves as an important steppingstone to a future in the field of biomedical science, and the University of Melbourne has one of the best Doctor of Medicine programs in Australia and one of the best in the world."
Patrick started the Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, after completing high school back home in Indonesia. Patrick is a recipient of a 2019 Metcalf Scholarship from the Walter and Eliza Hall Research Institute (WEHI).
He considers the University of Melbourne’s Bachelor of Biomedicine program to be an excellent starting point for entering the field of biomedical science.
"My plan is to become a biomedical scientist or practising physician. The Bachelor of Biomedicine serves as an important steppingstone to a future in the field of biomedical science, and the University of Melbourne has one of the best Doctor of Medicine programs in Australia and one of the best in the world. All this in addition to the large presence of Indonesia diaspora, as well as Melbourne being known as the most liveable city if the world, made coming to Melbourne very appealing."
In addition to his studies, Patrick is involved in the Indonesian Students Association. He has also volunteered for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and the Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre.
Patrick considers his research placement at WEHI and his volunteering major highlights of his time studying the at the University of Melbourne.
"Bachelor of Biomedicine students motivate each other to become better learners and people. I've made many great friends in my cohort."
