Virtual Reality

A suite of virtual reality experiences that can be used to enhance treatments for youth mental health.

Orygen Digital is developing a suite of virtual reality experiences that can be used to enhance treatments for youth mental health. By wearing a fully enclosed headset that projects 3D images on a screen, virtual reality can transport people into a completely immersive virtual environment. A new wave of research has shown how virtual reality can be used to help people to adapt to real-world environments and situations by experiencing them from the safety of the headset. Orygen Digital is pioneering innovative ways of using virtual reality to engage young people in the process of therapy, from learning and practicing new skills, meeting with therapists and other young people remotely within youth-friendly virtual spaces, and even allowing young people to interact with their own mind with in an interactive virtual space. These projects form an important part of the mission of Orygen Digital to provide more compelling, personalised and targeted therapeutic experiences for young people that are not only more effective, but also more accessible.
