Associate Professor Piero Perucca selected as AAHMS mentee

Academic Neurologist from the University of Melbourne welcomed as Associate Member of the AAHMS.

Associate Professor Piero Perucca from the University of Melbourne was among the 12 new mentees welcomed by the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS) this month.

The AAHMS Mentorship Program, which pairs health and medical researchers with Academy Fellows, aims to facilitate the career development and leadership capabilities of the mentee.

Researchers selected by the program will become an Associate Member of the Academy for the next three years.

Associate Professor Perucca said he applied for the program because it “offers the unique opportunity to engage with and learn from one of Australia’s pre-eminent minds from another field of medicine”.

Associate Professor Perucca is an academic neurologist with a primary research interest in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy. He is an Associate Professor of Adult Epilepsy at the University of Melbourne, Director of the Bladin-Berkovic Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Austin Health, and an NHMRC Early Career Fellow.

The Mentorship Program accepts applications year-round, with two intakes a year.
