2025 Dame Kate Campbell Fellowships announced
The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2025 Dame Kate Campbell Fellowships. This year 19 Fellows are being recognised across Level C, Level D and Level E. Consistent with the faculty’s Advancing Health 2030 strategy, a significant number of the fellows are early career researchers.
The fellowships are named after pioneering Australian physician and paediatrician Dame Kate Campbell. Dr Campbell obtained her MD from the University of Melbourne in 1922 and worked at the Royal Melbourne and Royal Children’s Hospitals. Her observations were instrumental in advancing care for neonatal and paediatric patients and in 1951 she published research proving a link between excess therapeutic oxygen in humidicribs and newborn blindness.

As well as the newly appointed fellows above, a further 20 existing Fellows were renewed.
Since the commencement of the scheme in 2020, over 100 Fellows have been appointed, recognising their incredible contributions to our faculty and beyond through outstanding research and engagement with the wider community.
