PASSPORT Identifies the Top Research Priorities in Childhood Sepsis
Across two online workshops, participants ranked 20 shortlisted research questions generated through earlier surveys, resulting in a Top 20 and Top 10 list of priorities. The highest-ranked questions focused on early recognition of sepsis, improving access to specialist care, and supporting recovery after sepsis.
The workshops included 11 parents, carers and others with lived experience of childhood sepsis, alongside 13 clinicians from specialties including paediatric emergency medicine, infectious diseases, immunology and research nursing. Participants joined from Australia, the United States, Greece, India, Nigeria, France and the United Kingdom.
Dr Tom Solan, Co-Clinical Lead of the PASSPORT Priority Setting Partnership, will present these findings at the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive & Critical Care Societies (WFPICCS) 2026 World Congress.
