MCCT Launches Industry Sponsored ICU Trials Network Across Melbourne

The Melbourne Centre for Clinical Trials (MCCT) has launched a new Industry Sponsored ICU Trials Network, bringing together six leading Melbourne health services to support the delivery of high-quality intensive care clinical trials.

The network provides industry sponsors with a single point of access to experienced intensive care research teams across Austin Health, Footscray Hospital, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, Sunshine Hospital and Northern Health. Together, the sites offer extensive critical care research capability, dedicated trial infrastructure and access to diverse patient populations across Melbourne.

The Industry-Sponsored ICU Trials Network combines more than 120 intensive care beds, approximately 10,500 ICU admissions annually and a team of dedicated research nurses, enabling rapid study start-up, strong recruitment and reliable data collection.

Participating sites offer a range of specialised clinical trial infrastructure, including ultralow-temperature storage, pathology and pharmacy support, sample processing facilities and dedicated research spaces. The network has been designed to make it easier for sponsors to conduct multi-site intensive care studies while ensuring access to experienced investigators and research teams.

As part of MCCT's mission to support collaboration and best practice in clinical trials, the network strengthens Melbourne's position as a leading destination for critical care research and provides new opportunities to bring innovative therapies to critically ill patients.
