MCCT and MISCH Hub celebrate International Clinical Trials Day 2025

The event aimed to recognize the importance of clinical trials in healthcare advancement and featured presentations from experts in research and clinical practice, focusing on developments in trial design and implementation.

The event featured presentations from four leaders in the field:

  • Marian Leischke, Manager of the Parkville Cancer Clinical Trials Unit, opened the program with reflections on the changing face of clinical trials, emphasizing how digital transformation, patient-centered design, and equity considerations are reshaping trial operations and outcomes.
  • Maria Stambas, Operations and Program Coordinator in the Department of General Practice and Primary Care at the University of Melbourne, explored the potential of primary care clinical trials. She underscored the importance of embedding research within primary care to ensure trials are more accessible and representative of real-world populations.
  • Eman Nafea, Director of A-CTEC, shared the A-CTEC journey of collaboration and impact, illustrating how strategic partnerships and national alignment can drive efficiency and innovation in clinical trial infrastructure.
  • Giulia Quattrocchi, Clinical Project Manager at the Peter Doherty Institute, concluded the program with insights into the ISAAC Study, a novel clinical trial that will inform public health and clinical guidelines on how to best manage and prevent secondary Invasive group A Strep (iGAS) cases.

The event highlighted the significance of clinical trials in medical progress and emphasized the value of clinical trials in improving patient outcomes by supporting medical compounds, devices and technologies.
