MDHS ECR Network Symposium (2019)

THURSDAY OCTOBER 31st 2019 (9am-5pm)

All ECRs and Final Year PhD students from MDHS are invited to expand their network and share their research at the network’s annual symposium – this year marks our 5th symposium! The program will include oral and poster presentations as well as keynote presentations (5th Annual MDHS ECR Network Symposium Program). The full Abstract Booklet can be downloaded here.


We are pleased to announce that this years plenary speaker is Professor Mike McGuckin, the Associate Dean of Research in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. In his role as the Associate Dean of Research, Mike is responsible for the strategic direction of research in the University of Melbourne's largest Faculty. Professor Mike McGuckin is the author of over 150 scientific publications with his research currently focused on mucosal infection, chronic inflammation and cancer in the gastrointestinal tract. He has held 4 patents and is heavily involved in national and international peer review, and has served on multiple committees and boards for scientific societies, collaborative research centres and charities.


This years symposium will also feature a Panel Discussion on the following topic: 'Choose your own adventure: opportunities and networking'. Our panelists are all former alumni of the MDHS ECR Network and include: Dr Kylie Quinn (Vice Chancellor's Research Fellow, RMIT), Dr Hamish McWilliam (Research Fellow, Doherty Institute) and Dr Gabrielle Callander (Senior Research Development Officer, Monash University).


There are numerous cash prizes for best poster and oral presentations to be won!

Abstract submission: To submit an abstract, please download the submission form here. Completed forms should be emailed to by 9th September 2019 24:00 AEST. Abstract submission is open to all MDHS ECRs and PhD students in their final year.
