Five easy steps to get the most of out your professional career discussions

  1. Year-end performance review for previous year

    Read the Guidelines for Professional Employees

    Important: Read the Supplementary Guide for Professional Employees for guidance on preparing for your year-end performance review in the context of COVID-19

    Meet with your supervisor and complete your year-end performance review by 28 February:

    • Review your performance against your goals and objectives, taking into consideration the impact of COVID-19, performance relative to opportunity and virtual working arrangements
    • Review any development undertaken
    • Receive your performance rating

    Complete Section 2 of the PDF Form

  2. Setting goals and objectives for year ahead

    Read the Guidelines for Professional Employees

    Discuss and agree with your supervisor your:

    • Goals and objectives for year ahead
    • Performance expectations (your measures and targets)
    • Development goals and career aspirations

    Complete Section 1 and Section 3 of the PDF Form

  3. Mid-year performance and development conversations

    Give and receive feedback with your supervisor in a two way conversation

    Update your goals and objectives (as required, in Section 1 of the PDF Form) by 30 July

  4. Ongoing discussions and recognition

    Monitor your progress against your agreed goals and objectives

    Receive coaching from your supervisor and discuss your ongoing development

    Identify appropriate recognition offerings together with your supervisor, including:

    • Development opportunities
    • Rotations and secondments (where possible)
    • Special projects/assignments
  5. Year-end performance review for the year

    Meet with your supervisor and complete your year-end performance review by 28 February:

    • Review your performance against your goals and objectives
    • Review any development undertaken
    • Receive your performance rating
