Kiara Bechta-Metti
Kiara has over 25 years' experience in technology commercialisation, finance and new business development through working with a number of small entrepreneurial companies, universities, large research intensive organisations and investment banks.

Kiara has spent the last ten years running or consulting to university business development / technology transfer offices, including the establishment of the University of Adelaide’s internal TTO. Prior to entering the university sector, she was responsible for commercialising a wide portfolio of technologies developed by the CSIRO across life sciences, medical devices, agriculture, food, and mining. She has a passion for science and business and continually looks for opportunities to combine these activities.
Starting her career as a Molecular and Cellular Biologist, after receiving formal qualifications from UC Berkeley, she has worked on the development of therapeutics to treat autoimmune diseases at Anergen, from bench to clinical trial, technical sales at Zymed and antibody production QC at BAbCo, leading to a strong grounding in genetics, immunology and technical sales.
After receiving her MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, and moving from Silicon Valley to Australia, she worked for six years as an equities research analyst for both UBS and Deutsche Bank, focusing on analysis of biotech, healthcare services and medical device companies where she gained a deep understanding of drivers for life science company growth and risks for failure which provide an industry lens when building new partnerships.
