Research Innovation Funding

We offer a range of funding opportunities to help you take your idea from discovery to impact.

Faculty funding

The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences will soon launch the Innovation Fund to enable staff to deepen their research impact and pioneer new models of teaching, through bold thinking and courageous innovation.

The Innovation Fund prioritises programs that support academic development and equity, entrepreneurship, social enterprise, industry engagement, unique approaches within disciplines, and collaboration across schools and faculties. The fund will support innovation initiatives including funding schemes and education programs to develop staff and student translational research and commercialisation skills.

The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences also offers several programs to enable staff to take their first steps towards research translation. Further information and application details for faculty programs can be found on the staff intranet.

  • The Dean's Innovation Grants scheme supports translational research requiring further funding to progress towards proof-of-concept prior to investment.
  • The Michael Hirshorn Medical Research Commercialisation Fund supports initiatives that are focused on the commercialisation of biomedical research.
  • The MDHS Innovation Seed Grants supports projects that drive innovations in medical devices, therapeutics, digital health solutions, artificial intelligence applications, health-related education, healthcare workforce and delivery that lead to impact in the areas of health, education, and inequity.
