All images are drawn from Under the Coverslip, a competition run annually by students from the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience in the School of Biomedical Sciences, which showcases the beauty of scientific imagery that the complex microscopic techniques produce, as well as the important research conducted by the students.
Admiration and intrigue inspired by the video give you an opportunity to view scientific research with an approach that is interesting and engaging, and hopefully inspires you to find out more about the ground breaking and exciting biomedical research that takes place within the School of Biomedical Sciences.

Amy Macpherson, VCA Alumna, dancer and contortionist
"I was drawn to working on this project by the prospect of investigating the intersection of science and art - a body for functional movement and a body for expression…an infinite series of movements for an infinite number of cells."
Amy Macpherson completed a Bachelor of Dance at the University of Melbourne, Victorian College of the Arts. She is a dancer, contortionist and award-winning choreographer. Amy has worked for companies including KAGE, Legs on the Wall, Co3, Opera Australia and Buzz Dance Theatre touring nationally and internationally. You can find more information on Amy on Instagram .
