Each year, the UMSWAA Comittee invite all alumni of social work at the University of Melbourne to come together and renew old friendships, establish new networks, exchange professional insights and share our learning and experience.
We are delighted that this year our guest speaker will be Professor Lou Harms, Deputy Head of the Department of Social Work and Associate Dean (Equity, Diversity and Staff Development) Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
Professor Harms is the author of Understanding Trauma and Resilience, an essential text for all practitioners that addresses the multifaceted nature of trauma and brings together the many theoretical perspectives that explain how people cope with traumatic life experiences.
For all social workers this is a fabulous opportunity to hear Professor Harms' insights into the interactions of stress, trauma and loss responses and their relationship with resilience, recovery and growth.
We look forward to seeing you at this very special event.
