About
In memory of Velma Stanley (née Price) who graduated as a Bachelor of Science in the University in 1925 and who was interested in the development of work in the field of addiction and although living abroad since 1935 maintained an interest in the University.

Eligibility
To be considered for this award, students must be in receipt of a Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship and must:
- Submit a statement summarising their PhD project, including the title of their dissertation, the problem or hypotheses being addressed and the relationship of the project to addiction or problems related to addiction to alcohol, tobacco, psychoactive drugs or gambling
- Provide a letter of endorsement from their principal supervisor
- Hold an RTP Scholarship
- Complete and submit the application cover form
Selection
The award will be offered to a student based on:
- The quality of the statement of the problem or hypotheses the dissertation is assessing, and the relevance of the research proposal to preventing of treating addiction or other problems related to addiction to alcohol, tobacco, psychoactive drugs or gambling.
