About

The Melbourne School of Psychological Science established this award to create pathways for Indigenous Australians to succeed in the field of psychological sciences and, in particular, to increase the number of Indigenous Australians who receive training as professional psychologists. The school has contributed funds to the MDHS Scholarship Fund to support this initiative. The bursary will be awarded under the auspices and guidelines of the trust.

Benefits

Up to 5 awards offered per year. The total value for each bursary is $5,000 each.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must be enrolled or applying to enrol in one of the courses below and be an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and identify as such, be accepted by the community in which s/he lives or has lived and be accepted into or enrolled in an eligible course of study.

  • Honours in Psychology (BH-ARTS, BH-SCI or BH-BMED)
  • Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced) (GDA-PSYCH)
  • Master of Applied Psychology (MC-AP)
  • Master of Professional Psychology  (MC-PROPSYC)
  • Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) (527CL)
  • Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) (527CN)

Selection

The award will be offered to the student(s): No further selection criteria apply. However, if the eligible numbers increase significantly (based on previous enrolments this is not anticipated) the criteria will be reviewed.

Application

Students confirmed and identified as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person will automatically be considered for the award during selection into the relevant course.

More information

The recipient must maintain enrolment in one of the eligible courses for the duration of the Bursary.
