  • Why did you decide to study at the University of Melbourne?

As an international student, the prestige of the University of Melbourne and the multicultural nature of the city of Melbourne were major attractions for me. I was particularly drawn to the University’s strong emphasis on research, which aligns with my long-term goals. Additionally, the diverse range of opportunities for hands-on learning and the ability to connect with leading experts in the field made this course stand out from similar programs at other institutions.

  • What do you like most about your studies at the University of Melbourne?

The best part of Biomedicine is the opportunity to learn from experts through guest lectures where we can directly engage with researchers about how they tackle current challenges in their fields. This direct interaction has been both inspiring and motivating, pushing me to strive harder.

The core biomedical subjects also provide a strong foundation, helping us build a solid understanding of the essentials, while exposing us to various disciplines from human anatomy to psychology. I really appreciate the diverse opportunities made available to students even at the undergraduate level. During my bachelors degree, I participated in research, gaining hands-on experience and developing a range of useful soft skills. All of these factors helped to solidify my career aspirations.

I also got involved in various student clubs and communities which enriched my learning experience and helped me grow both personally and professionally. The bonds I’ve formed with different people have been invaluable.

I also enjoy exploring the different libraries on campus – each offer a unique vibe to suit my study patterns and moods :)

  • What are your plans for the future?

Now, I am focusing on developing my research career through my Honours program. I am currently completing y Honours project on early brain development at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health and the University of Melbourne. I plan to thoroughly enjoy my laboratory experience.

  • What advice do you have for people considering this course?

I highly recommend future students explore the various opportunities to engage with clubs and societies, make friends, and embrace the diversity on campus.

While studying is a crucial aspect of university life, building connections with like-minded people and forming lasting bonds is equally important for your personal and professional growth.
