Location: Redmond Barry (Building 115), University of Melbourne Parkville Campus
The MDHS Graduate Research Conference 2025 is the flagship event for graduate researchers across the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Held over two days, this student-led conference offers an inclusive platform for graduate researchers to present their work, connect with peers, and engage with leading experts in their field.
The conference is dedicated to representing all disciplines equally across MDHS - from biomedical discovery to public health, clinical care, mental health, policy, and beyond.

Abstract submissions
We warmly invite abstract submissions for both oral and poster presentations. Whether you are working in the lab, clinic, community, or policy space, this is your opportunity to share your research and contribute to the diverse and dynamic MDHS research community.

2025 Theme
"From Bench to Bedside: Fostering Innovation Across Medical Research and Healthcare"
This year's theme celebrates the power of cross-disciplinary research in transforming discovery into real-world impact. The program will explore how innovation in the basic sciences integrates with clinical application, behavioural interventions, public health policy, and societal change.

Venue
Redmond Barry Building
The Redmond Barry Building is for MDHS students and staff. It encompasses the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences (levels 6-12) as well as Biosciences (levels 2-5). It is located along Tin Alley, and right next to MSD.
If you need wheelchair access, enter via the northern or eastern side. Lifts are at the eastern entrance.

Keynote
Professor Brett Sutton
Director, CSIRO
“Innovation to Impact – a how-to guide” (Day 1)
Prof Brett Sutton is a Director at CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, leading the Health & Biosecurity Research Unit, comprising over 350 researchers and support staff in areas of digital health, human health and plant, animal and environmental biosecurity.
A qualified public health physician, he brings extensive experience and clinical expertise in public health and communicable diseases, developed through roles in government, emergency medicine, and international fieldwork.
Before joining CSIRO, Brett served as Victoria’s Chief Health Officer and Chief Human Biosecurity Officer, heading the Health Protection Branch within the Victorian Department of Health.
With specialist knowledge in tropical medicine and infectious diseases, Brett has worked extensively in lower-middle-income countries and complex humanitarian settings, including in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Timor-Leste, and Fiji.
Brett’s career reflects his passion and commitment to advancing health outcomes in Australia and globally.
