Summary Ovarian cysts are very common in children however ovarian malignancy is uncommon.
Project Details
Currently it is very difficult to differentiate malignant from benign disease in children as presentation can be very similar. It is important to try and discriminate between the two preoperatively so that appropriate surgical management is undertaken, so as not to upstage a malignancy, to avoid repeat surgery, and preserve fertility.
We are offering a position for an honours student to work with a multidisciplinary team across the pediatric and adult sectors in order to evaluate a prediction of malignancy scoring system in pediatric and adolescent ovarian malignancy.
