Project Details

The Gait and Balance Gym provides a community program for falls and fracture prevention in older adults through traditional and novel methods. This includes the use of exercise and virtual-reality balance training to improve balance and function. With regards to the virtual reality system available, the Balance Rehabilitation Unit (BRU) involves the use of a force platform and virtual reality goggles containing a head tracker to accurately assess and treat balance disorders. In this project the effect of the Gait and Balance Gym programs on falls will be investigated.
