Summary This mixed methods study will involve a detailed exploration of costs born by patients, families and communities as well costs born by the health systems to develop a more detailed and nuanced understanding of both expenditure and its impact.

Project Details

Much of the evaluation of costs in health has focused upon the provision of formal care provided by systems such as hospitals, health professionals, consultations.  The costs born by patients and families are less well understood particularly in the setting of advanced illness and end of life care.

This mixed methods study will involve a detailed exploration of costs born by patients, families and communities as well costs born by the health systems to develop a more detailed and nuanced understanding of  both expenditure and its impact.
