Dr Ros McDougall | Top 5 Humanities

Dr Ros McDougall – senior lecturer in health ethics at Melbourne School of Population and Global Health – has been named one of ABC’s Top 5 Humanities researchers for her work in medical ethics.

Specifically, she is looking into the ethical challenges that doctors face in their work.  One current project investigates the ethics of fertility preservation for children who are undergoing medical treatment.

Dr McDougall is utilising her background in philosophy and qualitative research methods with the aim of developing ethical tools and resources to support doctors in their work caring for patients.

ABC’s Top 5 initiative aims to discover Australia's next generation of dynamic thinkers and give them a voice. Five talented young researchers will undertake a two-week media residency at the ABC. Winners will work alongside journalists to develop media and communication skills to share their ideas and specialist knowledge more widely through expert commentary, analysis and programs.
