Meg Stevens

Meg is a fourth year Doctor of Medicine Student and recipient of the Ron Rosanove Award.

I grew up in a small coastal town in Northern Queensland called Mission Beach, so I had to leave home in order to pursue further study. First, I studied a Bachelor of Biomedicine at Bond University. This was exciting but also stressful given I had limited support on the Gold Coast. Although there were tough times, I enjoyed the experience so much that I decided to move to Melbourne and pursue postgraduate medicine.

Melbourne was even further afield with fewer supports. Financially and socially this was a difficult period of adjustment for me. This scholarship will provide me with much needed support to make it through the rest of medical school without worrying about the next rent bill or study costs.

I have a passion for technology and hope to someday help work towards developing a centralised patient database for improved continuing care around Australia. Outside of my studies, I love to get back to my roots and get out on the water and go swimming and fishing.

Thanks to my scholarship, I have been able to embrace all that Melbourne has to offer and make it my home. I have really thrived here, academically and in my personal life, which would not have been possible if not for the support of this scholarship. Thank you so much.
