Welcome to Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Symposium

Get ready for two days of exciting exploration and discussion and an introduction to the OHDSI Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP)!
The Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (ODHSI) program overcomes many of the barriers to system based audit and research related to proprietary vendor EMR systems. OMOP dramatically improves the timelines to EMR based research by creating a common data model – no more tedious and expensive mapping from disparate systems for every research project ! Utilise standardised open source data cleaning and analytics toolsets.
This two day symposium will gather experts in data science, research ethics, data governance, clinical quality registries, population health and clinical research to develop a shared understanding of the structure and content and capabilities of the OMOP research model and the international collaboration networks.
While OHDSI organisation and standardisation is still an emerging process within the Australian healthcare context, the symposium aims will familiarise you with local experience and experts and the research outcomes possible.
We will explore existing barriers to data driven outcomes work and explore the benefits that the OMOP model may bring to for more efficient ethics and data governance processes.
Help us build a local collaboration network that will promote and utilise the OMOP transformed EMR data and opensource analysis toolsets and create a research question that can be answered using OMOP data.
