Dr Violet Mukaro, Melbourne Medical School – MDHS Award for Professional Excellence and Innovation

Describing it as “the best surprise” when hearing her team had nominated her, Dr Mukaro was recognised for her development of post-graduate courses in Disaster and Terror Medicine.

“This was the first course developed by the Department of Critical Care… and I worked with academic staff and key subject matter experts from our international collaborations in Israel, the US and the UK. I navigated the university approval and implementation processes to ensure the new courses were approved in a timely manner which are now seeing strong enrolments from a highly engaged, professional student cohort.”

Dr Mukaro used the prize money on three courses; a project management micro-credential, a ‘Monitoring Aproved Human Research’ workshop with Praxis Australia and a Certificate in Management Essentials from Harvard Business School Online.
