Providing a safety net to outstanding early career researchers
Recognises outstanding early career research fellows in the School.
Ensures outstanding researchers are retained by the University and are well positioned to apply for future funding schemes.
Provides a safety net should fellowships not be renewed, including salary support for up to two years and, if required, lab support to ensure productivity is sustained.
To be eligible, applicants must hold an existing appointment within a department of the School at either Level B, C or D, have established research independence and hold a current prestigious research fellowship (including NHMRC Career Development Fellow or Senior Research Fellow; ARC Future Fellow; or equivalents such as the Sylvia and Charles Viertel Medical Research Fellowship).
Awards are overseen by the School's Research Committee and advertised annually via the School's newsletter.
Note: The award will not be offered in 2019.
