Donor: 2/9th Australian Field Ambulance Unit Association to commemorate the services of the late Colonel Hedley Frank Summons MBBS (1972), PGDLA (1933) to Australia in peace and war, his services to the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and his services in the Military Forces and also in honour and recognition of him as the Commanding Officer of the 2/19 Field Ambulance Unit and as first President of the Association.

Eligibility

Awarded annually to the candidate who received his or her training in Otolaryngology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and who is in the opinion of the William Gibson Professor of Otolaryngology the best candidate in Otolaryngology in either the penultimate or final year of the Doctor of Medicine course (Year 3 and 4).

Selection

The prize exam consists of a one-hour written examination (short-answer and picture questions). Shortlisted candidates may then be invited to attend an additional viva examination.
