Hygiḗs* has been chosen as the name of this new e-newsletter, because it is a Greek word that means being 'healthy' and 'sound' of body and mind; 'sound' and 'logical' in argument; 'wholesome' and 'wise' of opinion; and 'virtuous' and 'honourable' in ethics. Furthermore, to make a person Hygiḗs is to restore them to health. All these definitions have strong relevance to the work and values of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
In this inaugural edition, you can hear about student experiences; discover study pathways; learn about careers and find out when are the upcoming events.
If you do know anyone else who would be interested in receiving these quarterly news updates, please encourage them to sign up via the links on this page.
We also welcome your feedback on what you would like to see included in the future. Happy reading!
* We would like to thank Dr. James H.K.O. Chong-Gossard, Faculty of Arts, for his advice on the Greek spelling and definition of the e-newsletter's name.
