Northern Health Teaching Training and Research Precinctum
The University of Melbourne together with Northern Health and La Trobe University are partners in the establishment of the Northern Centre for Health Education and Research (NCHER). Based at the Northern Health site in Epping Victoria, the NCHER will provide much needed
- Innovative approaches to health professional training – the precinct will provide an innovative community focused clinical school with collaborative links between Northern Health, The University of Melbourne and La Trobe University. This will ensure multidisciplinary education and research, innovative models of teaching including simulation laboratories and engagement with human service agencies in northern Melbourne (community health centres, mental health agencies, private practice, NGO)
- Improved population health and health service research – The NCHER will advance collaborative research in the areas of, chronic disease, management of ageing, health service provision and evidence based practice.
- Collaborative delivery – The partnership between The University of Melbourne, La Trobe University and Northern Health will deliver optimum teaching and research through shared resources and knowledge.
- Retention and development strategies – The NCHER will enable Northern Melbourne to attract and retain specialist clinical staff.
